With a solid foundation of knowledge and technique, this intermediate class will focus on 3 specific projects, (project samples pictured) to sharpen your skills - the first steps toward more advanced projects! Students will learn to use a dip pen and ink to create elegant thick and thin strokes and to form classic Roman letterforms—the foundation for many alphabets. We’ll explore angles, proportions, and spacing to build strong lettering skills, while also looking at the history of calligraphy, from early writings to today’s contemporary styles. By the end of the course, students will have a solid foundation and a deeper appreciation for the wide world of calligraphy. No previous experience required. This class is for adults.
