This class is on September 5 In this hands on workshop you will learn the basics of shibori-inspired folding and binding techniques to create beautiful patterns on fabric with indigo dye. You will get to make one scarf (cotton) and one tote bag (cotton). You will be amazed as the stunning one of a kind patterns are unfolded and revealed. Tuesday 10:00am – 1:00pm $145.00 (includes supplies). This class is on September 12 Looking for a new art form to try this year? Wet felting is the process by which wool, warm water, soap and agitation are used to create a non-woven felted fabric. Join us as we explore the possibilities of wet felting techniques and create a one of a kind vessel to take home. Please keep in mind that felting can be repetitive and labor intensive. Please bring a snack if you wish! Saturday 10:30am – 11:30am $5.00 (includes supplies). This class is on September 16 Have little ones under 5 years old? Help them discover colors, lines, shapes, textures and a variety of media. Experience various sensory related toys and activities! Young artists can enjoy the process, while making their own creations to take home! Activities are designed for children, age birth to 5 years. If bringing older siblings to class please be advised that the activities are designated for the littles ones only and participation will only be for the children that are 5 years and under. Workshop Facilitator: Helen Shafton, a retired elementary art teacher, specializing in providing authentic art experiences for children with all abilities. Helen has also worked with students with cognitive and motor disabilities for more than two decades. Parent must accompany their child. This class is on September 19 This class combines using natural botanicals and a mordant to create beautiful, wearable works of art inspired by nature! Ecoprinting is a process where plant materials are placed on specially treated fabric and then steamed to release the tanin in the plants, leaving realistic prints of the plants on the fabric. You will get hands-on classroom instruction in how to make these uniquely dyed scarves perfect for wearing or gifting. During the steaming process, you will make a charming votive using the botanicals, as a supplemental mini project! Please feel free to bring a lunch/snack to enjoy. Students will use wool batting, as if it were paint, along with a special barbed needle to create a felted image of a desert cactus on a backing of linen and muslin. Once you have brought them to life, these mischievous creatures need time to dry and be fired before they can hold your treats. By the time that dark and gloomy night of Halloween arrives, you will be ready to use your ghoulish bowl made of clay! Join us for a Jack O' Lantern Clay Workshop! Step by step, we will teach you to transform the clay into a festive and frightening friend. Participants will make one lantern with the choice of orange or black paint. Why get started so early?
