Students will get to explore the various capabilities of the slab roller\, extruder\, and numerous hand tools\, all of which provide an excellent foundation for the art of sculpture and pottery wheel. \nNo previous experience required. Rather than focusing on realism\, we’ll explore stylized and expressive forms — encouraging creative interpretation and personal flair. Whether you’re brand new to sculpture or just curious to try something different\, this class will guide you through proportion\, structure\, and features in a supportive and engaging environment. Each student will complete one head sculpture over the course of the class. \nNo prior sculpting experience needed! This class is for adults. \nFiring & Finishing Information: Sculptures created in this class will not be ready to glaze by the final day of class. Clay must dry slowly and thoroughly before it can be safely fired in the kiln. This drying and firing process takes approximately two weeks. Once your piece has been bisque fired\, you’ll have the opportunity to return during open studio or a separate session to apply glaze and complete your sculpture. This technique is very approachable for beginners\, and yet allows one the opportunity to get as creative and complex as you desire.  \nStudents will be working on wood canvases with a gloss finish. Each student will make 2 acrylic pours (one 8×8 and one 12×12). DESCRIPTION:December 10th\n$150.00 (includes all materials) \nCreate your very own stunning heart paperweight OR glass blown ornament! This workshop requires no previous experience. Students will pick out colors and create their own glass heart or ornament using traditional techniques under the instruction of Jason and Nicole McQuaid who have over 35 years of experience in glassblowing.
