Explore the art of sculpting heads using a simple, step-by-step approach. Rather than focusing on realism, we’ll explore stylized and expressive forms — encouraging creative interpretation and personal flair. Whether you’re brand new to sculpture or just curious to try something different, this class will guide you through proportion, structure, and features in a supportive and engaging environment. Each student will complete one head sculpture over the course of the class.
No prior sculpting experience needed! This class is for adults.
Firing & Finishing Information: Sculptures created in this class will not be ready to glaze by the final day of class. Clay must dry slowly and thoroughly before it can be safely fired in the kiln. This drying and firing process takes approximately two weeks. Once your piece has been bisque fired, you’ll have the opportunity to return during open studio or a separate session to apply glaze and complete your sculpture. We’ll provide more information on glaze options and scheduling as your piece nears completion.
Class size is limited to 10. Instructor: Angel Prudencio
Classes include materials, firing costs, and 2 hrs. weekly studio time designed to help students complete work between classes. (Additional studio time can be purchased for the reduced student rate of $12/hr.)
