Glass Lampworking Workshop – Adult

Wednesday, March 13th $150.00 (includes all materials) Lampworking is a type of glasswork that uses a torch to melt and shape glass. This is a basic course for those who want to start learning/or trying glass working with the lampworking technique. Students will work on the torch with Borosilicate Glass rods to create glass pendants and small sculptures. Students will pick out colored glass rods to use in their creations. Instructors are Jason and Nicole McQuaid, who have over 35 years of lampworking and jewelry making experience. All items will be available for pick up at the Old Town Artisan Studios’ reception desk 48 hours after the workshop. 4 students per time slot.        Instructors: Jason and Nicole McQuaid Safety Requirements: Please keep long hair tucked and tied back, also wear closed-toed and closed-heeled footwear for this workshop.Cancellations must be done at least 2 weeks prior to the event to receive a full refund.

Sensory Art Workshop – 5 years and under (Saturday)

Saturday 10:30am – 11:30am $5.00 (includes supplies). This class is on March 16 Have little ones under 5 years old? Help them discover colors, lines, shapes, textures and a variety of media. Experience various sensory related toys and activities! Young artists can enjoy the process, while making their own creations to take home! Activities are designed for children, age birth to 5 years. If bringing older siblings to class please be advised that the activities are designated for the littles ones only and participation will only be for the children that are 5 years and under. Workshop Facilitator: Helen Shafton, a retired elementary art teacher, specializing in providing authentic art experiences for children with all abilities. Helen has also worked with students with cognitive and motor disabilities for more than two decades. Parent must accompany their child. Ceramic Egg Planter Workshop – Adult & Youth

Join us for a Handbuilt Cracked Egg Planter Workshop!Step by step, we will teach you to transform clay through working with coils into an adorable cracked egg planter. Participants will make one planter, then we'll glaze it and fire it for you. Enjoy your functional planter for many years to come. Families encouraged to attend together! Workshop open to adults and youth (aged 7 & up). Parent or guardian required to accompany youth ages 7 - 12. Acrylic Pour Workshop – Adult

Tuesday 10:00am – 12:00pm $75.00 (includes all materials). This class is on March 19 Acrylic Pour is a fluid painting technique using acrylic paint to create marvelous works of art! This technique is very approachable for beginners, and yet allows one the opportunity to get as creative and complex as you desire. Students will be working on wood canvases with a gloss finish. Each student will make 2 acrylic pours, one small wood canvas for practice and a larger wood canvas to perfect your technique. Due to drying time, student work will be available for pickup on the Saturday following the workshop. Tuesdays 10:00am – 12:00pm  $160 for 4 week session. Includes all materials and firing costs.  The dates for this class are March 26, April 2, 9 & 16 Ceramics I is an introductory handbuilding class in which you learn all about techniques and tools. Students will be creating, by hand, functional ceramic pieces from start to finish with the guidance of an instructor. Learning to build with tools in the studio other than the wheel is key to understanding the art of clay. Students will get to explore the various capabilities of the slab roller, extruder, and numerous hand tools, all of which provide an excellent foundation for the art of sculpture and pottery wheel. No previous experience required. Class size is limited to 10.                                  Instructor: Colby Cramer Classes include materials, firing costs, and 2 hrs. weekly studio time designed to help students complete work between classes. Fused Glass I – Adult

Tuesdays 10:30am – 12:30pm $200 for 4 week session. Includes all materials and firing costs. This class is on March 26, April 2, 9 & 16 Fused Glass I is an introductory level class in which students will learn safety and basic fusing concepts such as how glass behaves at different temperatures in a kiln, cutting and shaping sheet glass, and the various types of glass that are available to the kiln glass artist. We will focus initially on arranging glass for flat fusing―the first step towards many more advanced techniques, including bowl making. Students will work on specific projects designed by the instructor to master each of the basic skills. No previous experience required.
