In this 4 week class, we will learn about and explore a variety exciting surface treatments to add extra life, movement and expression to our handmade ceramic pieces. Each week there will be time for demonstrations, making, and lots and lots of hand on exploration. We’ll specifically be looking at techniques in:
- Underglazing
- Sgraffitto
- Mishima
- Carving away & adding elements in clay
Some previous clay experience is required.

Classes include materials, firing costs, and 2 hrs. weekly studio time designed to help students complete work between classes. (Additional studio time can be purchased for the reduced student rate of $12/hr.)
