Youth Intro to Ceramics – Ages 7 to 15 -Tuesdays

Session 1: April 22, 29, May 6 & 13 Intro to Ceramics is an introductory handbuilding class in which you learn all about techniques and tools. Students will be creating, by hand, functional ceramic pieces from start to finish with the guidance of an instructor. Learning to build with tools in the studio other than the wheel is key to understanding the art of clay. Students will get to explore the various capabilities of the slab roller, extruder, and numerous hand tools, all of which provide an excellent foundation for other ceramic disciplines. Character Creation is an immersive methods and materials class that introduces students to the world of digital art. Through a combination of theory and hands-on practice, aspiring artists will learn how to bring their original characters to life. The course covers the entire creative process, from initial concept sketches to final print-ready artwork. By the end of this course, students will have a portfolio piece of original character artwork ready for publication. Whether they aspire to create comic book heroes, fantasy creatures, sci-fi protagonists, or the next animated hit, this course introduces students to the skills needed to succeed in the competitive world of professional illustration. Beginning Glass Blowing Workshop – Adult – Wednesday

April 23rd $150.00 (includes all materials) Classic first project for those curious about glassblowing techniques. This workshop requires no previous experience. Students will pick out colors and create their own glass vessel using traditional techniques under the instruction of Jason and Nicole McQuaid who have over 35 years of experience in glassblowing. All items will be available for pick-up 48 hours after the workshop at the Old Town Artisan Studios’ reception desk. Safety Requirements: Please wear long hair tied back, cotton clothing (jeans recommended), glasses or sunglasses for eye protection and closed-toed/closed-heeled footwear for this workshop. 4 students per time slot.        Instructors: Jason and Nicole McQuaid Cancellations must be done at least 2 weeks prior to the event to receive a full refund. Featuring songs by artists like The Eagles, Linda Rondstadt, Jackson Browne, Joni Mitchell, CSNY and more. The Laurel Canyon Band is a familiar and popular act at festivals and private functions across Southern California, playing crowd favorite songs built on great musicianship, soaring harmonies and classic riffs. These pieces are perfect for your wall indoors or out. You will learn all the steps needed to create your piece from start to finish including designing your piece, color choices, cutting glass, gluing and grouting. You will create your own glass mosaic on a pre-cut wood board. Choose from a variety of wood shapes to make your own. Possible shapes include circles, squares, hearts, butterflies, palm trees, flowers and more. Explore the art of throwing clay on the pottery wheel as you learn to craft one-of-a-kind pieces from start to finish. Students will learn the basics and beyond, including clay preparation, proper body positioning, centering, pulling walls, shaping, trimming, and glazing. No previous experience required. Class size is limited to 10.                             Instructor: Colby Cramer Classes include materials, firing costs, and 2 hrs. weekly studio time designed to help students complete work between classes. Acrylic Pour Workshop – Adult – Tuesday

@ 10:00am – 12:00pm $75.00 (includes all materials). This class is on April 29th. Acrylic Pour is a fluid painting technique using acrylic paint to create marvelous works of art! This technique is very approachable for beginners, and yet allows one the opportunity to get as creative and complex as you desire. Students will be working on wood canvases. Each student will make 2 acrylic pours, one small wood canvas for practice and a larger wood canvas to perfect your technique. Due to drying time, student work will be available for pickup on the Saturday following the workshop.
