Workshops - Spring - 2025

April 23rd $150.00 (includes all materials) Classic first project for those curious about glassblowing techniques. This workshop requires no previous experience. Students will pick out colors and create their own glass vessel using traditional techniques under the instruction of Jason and Nicole McQuaid who have over 35 years of experience in glassblowing. All items will be available for pick-up 48 hours after the workshop at the Old Town Artisan Studios’ reception desk. @ 10:00am – 12:00pm $75.00 (includes all materials). This class is on April 29th. Acrylic Pour is a fluid painting technique using acrylic paint to create marvelous works of art! This technique is very approachable for beginners, and yet allows one the opportunity to get as creative and complex as you desire. Students will be working on wood canvases. Each student will make 2 acrylic pours, one small wood canvas for practice and a larger wood canvas to perfect your technique. Due to drying time, student work will be available for pickup on the Saturday following the workshop. Whether you are an experienced glass fuser or have never heard of fused glass, this workshop is a great opportunity to have fun with a group of people making fused glass jewelry. Cost includes 2 hours of instruction, glass and supplies to complete 3 - 5 pieces (depending on size) of amazing, one of a kind jewelry. Projects will be ready for pickup at the OTAS front desk on the Monday after the workshop. Whether you are an experienced glass fuser or have never heard of fused glass, this workshop is a great opportunity to have fun with a group of people making fused glass pocket hearts. Cost includes 2 hours of instruction, glass and supplies to complete 3 original pocket hearts. Projects will be ready for pickup at the OTAS front desk on the Monday after the workshop. @ 10:30am – 11:30am $5.00 (includes supplies). This class is on May 17th. Have little ones under 5 years old? Help them discover colors, lines, shapes, textures and a variety of media. Experience various sensory related toys and activities! Young artists can enjoy the process, while making their own creations to take home! Activities are designed for children, age birth to 5 years. If bringing older siblings to class please be advised that the activities are designated for the littles ones only and participation will only be for the children that are 5 years and under. Workshop Facilitator: Helen Shafton, a retired elementary art teacher, specializing in providing authentic art experiences for children with all abilities. Helen has also worked with students with cognitive and motor disabilities for more than two decades. Parent must accompany their child. Class size is limited to 10.  Cancellations must be done at least 2 weeks prior to the start of class in order to receive a full refund. Whether you are an experienced glass fuser or have never heard of fused glass, this workshop is a great opportunity to have fun with a group of people making a one of a kind fused glass 3 piece sun catcher. Cost includes 2 hours of instruction, glass and supplies to complete one sun catcher. Projects will be ready for pickup at the OTAS front desk on the Monday after the workshop. Discover the art of fused glass in this engaging workshop, perfect for both beginners and experienced glass enthusiasts! Enjoy creating unique glass tiles using glass powder and a screen-printing process, all while having fun in a supportive group setting. The workshop fee includes 2 hours of hands-on instruction, all necessary materials, and supplies to craft four artistic glass tiles (tiles are approx. 4" square). Completed projects will be available for pickup at the OTAS front desk on the Monday following the workshop. The workshop fee includes 2 hours of hands-on instruction, all necessary materials, and supplies to craft approx. 6-8 artistic glass shapes (shapes are approx. 1-2 inches) that can be used as magnets, pendants or in other glass projects.
