While there are no set projects, the instructor will offer ongoing demos focused on advanced techniques, experimental methods, and material exploration to help push your creative boundaries. Students are encouraged to pursue personal directions and challenge their existing skillsets, while also learning from the work and ideas of others in the class. Full access to studio tools, including pottery wheels, slab rollers, and handbuilding equipment, is provided. A solid understanding of ceramic processes and terminology is a must. Rather than focusing on realism, we’ll explore stylized and expressive forms — encouraging creative interpretation and personal flair. Whether you're brand new to sculpture or just curious to try something different, this class will guide you through proportion, structure, and features in a supportive and engaging environment. Each student will complete one head sculpture over the course of the class. No prior sculpting experience needed! This class is for adults. Firing & Finishing Information: Sculptures created in this class will not be ready to glaze by the final day of class. Clay must dry slowly and thoroughly before it can be safely fired in the kiln.
