@ 10:00am – 12:00pm $75.00 (includes all materials). This class is on October 29th. Acrylic Pour is a fluid painting technique using acrylic paint to create marvelous works of art! This technique is very approachable for beginners, and yet allows one the opportunity to get as creative and complex as you desire. Students will be working on wood canvases with a gloss finish. Each student will make 2 acrylic pours, one small wood canvas for practice and a larger wood canvas to perfect your technique. Due to drying time, student work will be available for pickup on the Saturday following the workshop. Create a wearable art silk scarf blended with wool roving and embellishments, while learning the introductory processes of felting in this 3-hour workshop. Nuno Felting is a process of blending natural fibers such as silk and wool using water, heat and friction. Bring your creativity - no sewing or knitting required! Please bring a snack if you wish! Whether you are an experienced glass fuser or have never heard of fused glass, this workshop is a great opportunity to have fun with a group of people making a set of fused glass coasters. Cost includes 2 hours of instruction, glass and supplies to complete a set of 4 amazing drink coasters. Projects will be ready for pickup at the OTAS front desk on the Monday after the workshop. Saturday Workshop - Successful Glazing Successful Glazing is an informative workshop aimed to improve glazing skills and results. Students will learn about glaze properties, various methods of application, and techniques to expand their creative language. Glaze defects, touch ups, and finishing will also be discussed. Students are recommended to be familiar with basic glazing processes. Students may bring two pieces to glaze at the end, but it is not required. Open for beginners and advanced students alike. In this workshop, students will learn how to paint the world around them, capturing the iconic bright foliage of autumn in a fun, tactile medium - soft pastels. Students will learn how to set up their pastel work space, sketch a landscape, color theory and how to apply, blend and capture a fall landscape with the wonderfully intense colors of soft pastels with a completed painting by the end of the day. Just starting your journey with clay and want to see if pottery wheel throwing is for you? This workshop introduces the basic principles of throwing clay on the pottery wheel, with a focus on the key elements for success needed to make a handled mug. Students will pick their best mug to keep and the instructor will bring that mug to life with the glaze of your choice. Your mug will be available for pick up 3 weeks after the workshop. Experience various sensory related toys and activities! Young artists can enjoy the process, while making their own creations to take home! Activities are designed for children, age birth to 5 years. If bringing older siblings to class please be advised that the activities are designated for the littles ones only and participation will only be for the children that are 5 years and under. Workshop Facilitator: Helen Shafton, a retired elementary art teacher, specializing in providing authentic art experiences for children with all abilities. Jump into the exciting world of creative surface decoration for clay in this fun one-day workshop on Sgraffito and Mishima. Sgraffito is a decorating technique used on leather hard pottery, produced by applying layers of colors then scratching off parts of the layers to create images, patterns and texture. Mishima is considered the opposite of sgraffito and involves scratching first into leather hard clay, filling the lines with color then scraping the clay back to reveal lines filled with color. Students will also be learning different methods for transferring images onto clay and experimenting with different tools while creating one-of-a-kind ceramic pieces. This workshop is for those with a basic knowledge of ceramics who want to explore a bit with decorating their ceramic work. Please bring a lunch/snack, as there will be a break allowing for drying time.
