Workshops - Fall

November 20th $100.00 (includes all materials) Classic first project for those curious about glassblowing techniques. This workshop requires no previous experience. Students will pick out colors and blow their own glass ornament using traditional glassblowing techniques under the instruction of Jason and Nicole McQuaid who have over 35 years of experience. @ 2:00pm – 3:30pm $65.00 (includes all materials). This class is on November 25th. Winter is wonderful time for landscape painting. In this workshop, students will learn how to paint the world around them, capturing a winter wonderland scene in a fun, tactile medium - soft pastels. Students will learn how to set up their pastel work space, sketch a landscape, color theory and how to apply, blend and capture a landscape with the wonderfully intense colors of soft pastels with a completed painting by the end of the day. @ 10:00am – 1:00pm $65.00 (includes all materials). This class is on December 3rd. Transform an ordinary gourd to sweet whimsical character! In this one-day workshop you will paint and embellish a natural gourd to create a remarkable one-of-a-kind character. Let your imagination soar, this will be a treasure to enjoy for years to come! Whether you are an experienced glass fuser or have never heard of fused glass, this workshop is a great opportunity to have fun with a group of people making fused glass holiday ornaments. Cost includes 2 hours of instruction, glass and supplies to complete 3-4 ornaments. Projects will be ready for pickup at the OTAS front desk on the Monday after the workshop. @ 10:00am – 12:00pm $75.00 (includes all materials). This class is on December 10th. Acrylic Pour is a fluid painting technique using acrylic paint to create marvelous works of art! This technique is very approachable for beginners, and yet allows one the opportunity to get as creative and complex as you desire. Students will be working on wood canvases with a gloss finish. Each student will make 2 acrylic pours, one small wood canvas for practice and a larger wood canvas to perfect your technique. Due to drying time, student work will be available for pickup on the Saturday following the workshop. December 11th $150.00 (includes all materials) Create your very own stunning heart paperweight! This workshop requires no previous experience. No needles and no knitting experience necessary! Have some fun with us and take home a finished scarf at the end of class to either give as a gift of keep for yourself!
