Tuesday 10:00am – 12:00pm $75.00 (includes all materials). This class is on March 19 Acrylic Pour is a fluid painting technique using acrylic paint to create marvelous works of art! This technique is very approachable for beginners, and yet allows one the opportunity to get as creative and complex as you desire. Students will be working on wood canvases with a gloss finish. Each student will make 2 acrylic pours, one small wood canvas for practice and a larger wood canvas to perfect your technique. Due to drying time, student work will be available for pickup on the Saturday following the workshop. Wednesday, March 20th $150.00 (includes all materials) Classic first project for those curious about glassblowing techniques. This workshop requires no previous experience. Students will pick out colors and create their own glass vessel using traditional techniques under the instruction of Jason and Nicole McQuaid who have over 35 years of experience in glassblowing. Tuesday 10:00am – 1:00pm $125.00 (includes all materials). This class is on April 2 This is a beginning needle felting class that will teach you different needle felting techniques. Students will use wool batting, as if it were paint, along with a special barbed needle to create a felted image of a desert cactus on a backing of linen and muslin. Wednesday 5:30pm – 7:15pm $150.00 - This class is on April 10th. Immersive Premium beef demonstration. Including Domestic, Japanese, Australian Wagyu Beef and 100% grass fed/finished beef products. Selecting, preparing, and tasting beef. Demo by Chef Justin Snyder, Michelin trained in both savory and pastry and a proud honor graduate of the world famous E.N.S.P pastry school owned by Alain Ducasse in Yssingeaux, France. Join Chef Justin in the serene setting of the Old Town Artisan Studios’ majestic gardens and cascading waterfalls, that will make for the perfect backdrop for this demo! Successful Glazing Workshop Successful Glazing is an informative workshop aimed to improve glazing skills and results. Students will learn about glaze properties, various methods of application, and techniques to expand their creative language. Glaze defects, touch ups, and finishing will also be discussed. Students are asked to bring two ceramic pieces. Some experience is recommended but not required, this is open for beginners and advanced students alike. Highlights: Glaze properties: What is a glaze? Deep dive inside the bucket and find out what ingredients glazes contain, what is their function, and why this is important for your practice and specific projects. Glaze methods and techniques: learn the different ways of applying glaze to your projects and how to manipulate the glaze attribute to your needs. Touch up and finish: Gain confidence in handling your work, touching up common mistakes, and finishing up your project strong. Jump into the exciting world of creative surface decoration and self-expression in this fun one day workshop on Sgraffito. Sgraffito (Italian for “to scratch”) is a decorating technique used on leather hard pottery, produced by applying layers of colors using underglazes or slips and then scratching off parts of the layers to create images, patterns and texture. Students will be looking at examples of sgraffito pottery from the ancient to modern. Students will also be learning different methods for transferring images onto clay and experimenting with different tools while creating one of a kind tiles. This workshop is for those with a basic knowledge of ceramics who want to delve a little deeper into surface decoration. Please bring a lunch/snack, as there will be a break allowing for drying time.
