Students will learn to use a dip pen and ink to create elegant thick and thin strokes and to form classic Roman letterforms—the foundation for many alphabets. We’ll explore angles, proportions, and spacing to build strong lettering skills, while also looking at the history of calligraphy, from early writings to today’s contemporary styles. We will explore the general elements of composition and exposure, then apply these to the various genres of photography. You will also learn the basics of “seeing” to express yourself artistically through your photographs. We will review the rules of photography and then how to break them to create your personal photographic vision in a supportive atmosphere. Become a fine photographer by thinking and seeing in a new way.No previous experience is needed.
