Students will pick out colors and create their own glass ornament using traditional techniques under the instruction of Jason and Nicole McQuaid who have over 35 years of experience in glassblowing. Your basket will be carefully crafted with recycled silk sari fabric, and trimmed with beautiful accent linen thread and embellishments. Perfect as an accent piece, kitchen catch-all, gift basket, or bathroom organizer. The options are endless! Tuesday  10:30am – 2:30pm $85.00 (includes materials and firing costs). This class is on December 12th. Jump into the exciting world of creative surface decoration and self-expression in this fun one day workshop on Sgraffito. Sgraffito (Italian for “to scratch”) is a decorating technique used on leather hard pottery, produced by applying layers of colors using underglazes or slips and then scratching off parts of the layers to create images, patterns and texture. Students will be looking at examples of sgraffito pottery from the ancient to modern. Students will also be learning different methods for transferring images onto clay and experimenting with different tools while creating one of a kind tiles. This workshop is for those with a basic knowledge of ceramics who want to delve a little deeper into surface decoration. Please bring a lunch/snack, as there will be a break allowing for drying time. Wednesday, December 13th $150.00 (includes all materials) Lampworking is a type of glasswork that uses a torch to melt and shape glass. This is a basic course for those who want to start learning/or trying glass working with the lampworking technique. Students will work on the torch with Borosilicate Glass rods to create glass pendants and small sculptures. Students will pick out colored glass rods to use in their creations. Instructors are Jason and Nicole McQuaid, who have over 35 years of lampworking and jewelry making experience.
