Pine Needle Basket Weaving – Adult

Tuesdays 10:00am – 12:00pm $175.00 for 4 week session. Includes all materials. This class is on April 16, 23, 30 & May 7 Learn to make a basket made from long leaf pine needles, using waxed linen thread, an assortment of beads or other embellishments, starting with a sliced walnut shell center. In this 4 week course each participant will create a one of a kind woven basket and have the knowledge to continue this art form at home. No experience necessary. Class size is limited to 6.                              Instructor: Nettie Roberts Cancellations must be done at least 2 weeks prior to the first day of class in order to receive a full refund.

Glass Heart Workshop – Adult

Wednesday, April 17th $150.00 (includes all materials) Create your very own stunning heart paperweight! This workshop requires no previous experience. Students will pick out colors and create their own glass heart using traditional techniques under the instruction of Jason and Nicole McQuaid who have over 35 years of experience in glassblowing. All items will be available for pick up at the Old Town Artisan Studios’ reception desk 48 hours after the workshop. 4 students per time slot.        Instructors: Jason and Nicole McQuaid Safety Requirements: Please keep long hair tucked and tied back, also wear closed-toed and closed-heeled footwear for this workshop. Glazing Workshop – Adult

Saturday  10:30am – 12:30pm $75.00 (includes glazes and firing costs). This class is on April 20th. Successful Glazing Workshop Successful Glazing is an informative workshop aimed to improve glazing skills and results. Students will learn about glaze properties, various methods of application, and techniques to expand their creative language. Glaze defects, touch ups, and finishing will also be discussed. Students are asked to bring two ceramic pieces. Some experience is recommended but not required, this is open for beginners and advanced students alike. Highlights: Glaze properties: What is a glaze? Deep dive inside the bucket and find out what ingredients glazes contain, what is their function, and why this is important for your practice and specific projects. Glaze methods and techniques: learn the different ways of applying glaze to your projects and how to manipulate the glaze attribute to your needs. Touch up and finish: Gain confidence in handling your work, touching up common mistakes, and finishing up your project strong.
