Pine Needle Basket Weaving – Adult

Tuesdays 10:00am – 12:00pm $175.00 for 4 week session. Includes all materials. This class is on April 16, 23, 30 & May 7 Learn to make a basket made from long leaf pine needles, using waxed linen thread, an assortment of beads or other embellishments, starting with a sliced walnut shell center. In this 4 week course each participant will create a one of a kind woven basket and have the knowledge to continue this art form at home. No experience necessary. Glass Heart Workshop – Adult

Wednesday, April 17th $150.00 (includes all materials) Create your very own stunning heart paperweight! This workshop requires no previous experience. Students will pick out colors and create their own glass heart using traditional techniques under the instruction of Jason and Nicole McQuaid who have over 35 years of experience in glassblowing. Glazing Workshop – Adult

Saturday  10:30am – 12:30pm $75.00 (includes glazes and firing costs). This class is on April 20th. Successful Glazing Workshop Successful Glazing is an informative workshop aimed to improve glazing skills and results. Students will learn about glaze properties, various methods of application, and techniques to expand their creative language. Glaze defects, touch ups, and finishing will also be discussed. Students are asked to bring two ceramic pieces. Some experience is recommended but not required, this is open for beginners and advanced students alike. Highlights: Glaze properties: What is a glaze? Deep dive inside the bucket and find out what ingredients glazes contain, what is their function, and why this is important for your practice and specific projects. Glaze methods and techniques: learn the different ways of applying glaze to your projects and how to manipulate the glaze attribute to your needs. Ceramics I – Adult

Includes all materials and firing costs.  The dates for this class are April 23, 30, May 7 & 14 Ceramics I is an introductory handbuilding class in which you learn all about techniques and tools. Students will be creating, by hand, functional ceramic pieces from start to finish with the guidance of an instructor. Learning to build with tools in the studio other than the wheel is key to understanding the art of clay. Students will get to explore the various capabilities of the slab roller, extruder, and numerous hand tools, all of which provide an excellent foundation for the art of sculpture and pottery wheel. No previous experience required. Fused Glass I – Adult

This class is on April 23, 30, May 7 & 14 Fused Glass I is an introductory level class in which students will learn safety and basic fusing concepts such as how glass behaves at different temperatures in a kiln, cutting and shaping sheet glass, and the various types of glass that are available to the kiln glass artist. We will focus initially on arranging glass for flat fusing―the first step towards many more advanced techniques, including bowl making. Students will work on specific projects designed by the instructor to master each of the basic skills. No previous experience required.. Sgraffito Workshop – Adult

Tuesday  10:30am – 2:30pm $85.00 (includes materials and firing costs). This class is on April 23rd. Jump into the exciting world of creative surface decoration and self-expression in this fun one day workshop on Sgraffito. Sgraffito (Italian for “to scratch”) is a decorating technique used on leather hard pottery, produced by applying layers of colors using underglazes or slips and then scratching off parts of the layers to create images, patterns and texture. Students will be looking at examples of sgraffito pottery from the ancient to modern. Students will also be learning different methods for transferring images onto clay and experimenting with different tools while creating one of a kind tiles. This workshop is for those with a basic knowledge of ceramics who want to delve a little deeper into surface decoration. Please bring a lunch/snack, as there will be a break allowing for drying time.
