Create a wearable art silk scarf blended with wool roving and embellishments, while learning the introductory processes of felting in this 3-hour workshop. Nuno Felting is a process of blending natural fibers such as silk and wool using water, heat and friction. Bring your creativity - no sewing or knitting required! Please keep in mind that felting can be repetitive and labor intensive. Please bring a snack if you wish! Whether you are an experienced glass fuser or have never heard of fused glass, this workshop is a great opportunity to have fun with a group of people making a one of a kind fused glass 3 piece sun catcher. This technique is very approachable for beginners, and yet allows one the opportunity to get as creative and complex as you desire. Students will be working on wood canvases. Each student will make 2 acrylic pours, one small wood canvas for practice and a larger wood canvas to perfect your technique. Due to drying time, student work will be available for pickup on the Saturday following the workshop. Ecoprinting is a process where plant materials are placed on specially treated fabric and then steamed to release the tanin in the plants, leaving realistic prints of the plants on the fabric. You will get hands-on classroom instruction in how to make these uniquely dyed scarves perfect for wearing or gifting. During the steaming process, you will make a supplemental mini art project!  Please bring a snack if you wish!
