Each week, we’ll dive into the essentials of abstract art, focusing on techniques and principles to cultivate a personal art practice. Discover new approaches, share creative insights, and gain skills that will enrich your artistic journey long after the class ends. Multiple paintings will be completed during each 4-week session. Explore the art of throwing clay on the pottery wheel as you learn to craft one-of-a-kind pieces from start to finish. Students will learn the basics and beyond, including clay preparation, proper body positioning, centering, pulling walls, shaping, trimming, and glazing. @ 10:30am – 11:30am $5.00 (includes supplies). This class is on January 18th. Have little ones under 5 years old? Help them discover colors, lines, shapes, textures and a variety of media. Experience various sensory related toys and activities! Young artists can enjoy the process, while making their own creations to take home! Activities are designed for children, age birth to 5 years. If bringing older siblings to class please be advised that the activities are designated for the littles ones only and participation will only be for the children that are 5 years and under. Workshop Facilitator: Helen Shafton, a retired elementary art teacher, specializing in providing authentic art experiences for children with all abilities. Helen has also worked with students with cognitive and motor disabilities for more than two decades. Parent must accompany their child. Offered:  Session 2: January 30, February 6, 13 & 20 and Session 4: March 27, April 3, 10 & 17 Embark on a journey through the realms of digital art with our World Building class designed for aspiring young artists. Over four immersive classes, students will be introduced to perspective with architectural drawing while exploring the intricacies of creating believable worlds for their illustrations. By the end of the course, students will have created a background image of their own design, blending imaginative concepts with technical drawing skills. This hands-on experience will not only enhance their artistic abilities but also stimulate creative thinking, empowering them to bring their fantastical worlds to life. Lisa Lynn (Morgan) like to call it, “y’all-ternative country, rock, and soul.” Morgan fronts the band with loving charisma and is backed by some of the best players in town. Together they bring everything from contemporary tunes to classic rock, blues, and country. As a solo artist, Ken O’Malley easily commands the room; with his band he also rocks the house. Quickly drawing the audience in, it is no wonder that the Irish News describes him “without question, as the single most enduring, influential and proficient of all Irish musicians in Southern California” and the University of St. Thomas at Houston acknowledges him to be "widely regarded as the finest Irish folk singer/songwriter in the United States today." Arriving in Los Angeles from Ireland over 30 years ago, Ken O’Malley was immediately offered a spot at Molly Malone's, the legendary Irish venue in the city's Fairfax district, and he hasn't stopped playing since. The Art of Music: Fred Benedetti

Fred Benedetti April 10, 2025 @ 6:00 - 7:30 pm Fred Benedetti began studies of classical guitar at the age of 16 and by age 26 was one of 12 guitarists worldwide to perform in one of the last masterclasses of Maestro Andres Segovia. Fred has performed in the United States, England, Germany, the Czech Republic, Canada, Taiwan and Mexico and locally with the San Diego Symphony, the San Diego Opera, the Starlight Opera, the American Ballet Company, the Old Globe Theatre, Luciano Pavarotti, and jazz artist Dave Brubeck.   Because of his ability to play a variety of musical styles, Fred has shared the  stage with Mason Williams, Eric Johnson, Doc Watson, Albert Lee,  Art Garfunkel, and has recorded with Willie Nelson,  Juice Newton, Paul Overstreet, Patty Loveless, and  William Lee Golden.
